Superfoods
What are Superfoods?
‘Superfoods’ are simply those foods, many of them common to our diet for centuries, that have been analysed and identified as being packed with the nutrients that we need to fuel and maintain our bodies.
It’s crucial to eat a balanced, healthy diet, filled with a wide variety of fresh vegetables and fruit, if we want to be as healthy as possible. Indeed, a wide and varied diet is the best way to get the optimum intake of all the nutrients you need. It’s surprising how little variety many of us get on our plates - sticking to the same old favourites a lot of the time.
Including a few superfoods in your daily diet can help you to provide your body with all the nutrients, antioxidents and other fuels it needs to get you through the day happily, energetically, fantastically!
It’s not difficult, most of the recommended superfoods are straightforward items we are all familiar with - nuts and seeds, berries and common veg, oily fish, garlic and fruit. The less familiar items, like wheatgrass, barleygrass, spirulina and other algaes, quinoa and aloe vera, may seem more exotic, but are now quite easy to get hold of. Many of them are now appearing in the local supermarket! Others you’ll find for sale here on the Nutri-Health website.
If you want to know more about the nutrients - enzymes, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential fats and phytonutrients - that our food provides us with, please take a look at our Nutritional A-Z of Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements.
We hope you enjoy looking through our superfoods, and would love you to try including some of these brilliant foods in your diet.
